China´s festivals

One of the most important festivity in China is the ,,Dragonboat-festival“ (端午节).Every year it takes place on the fifth day of the fifth months (this year: 18^th april ). At first being a ceremony for the gods of the river it now is more a commemoration for the chinese poet and politician Qu Yuan.

Another firmly of the Chinese is the spring- or new year celebration (春节). It´s celebrated every year between the 22^nd january and the 19^th february (our calendar). Usually a lot of people travel to their families during this 15 days the springcelebration lasts. It is finished with the lantern festival.

Another very important celebration is the Memorial of the Dead (清明节). During this time, members of the family decorate the grave of their ancestors with colorful ribbons and paper money that should bring wealth to the relatives in the beyond.it takes place 106 days after the winter solstice (this year: 5^th april ).
